Professional gynecological medical services - cater to the needs of different women
Women face various physiological issues at different stages and ages. Due to the unique characteristics of the female body, it is recommended to perform regular examination and seek health advice from a professional gynaecologist. Gynaecology is a subspecialty focusing on women health and wellbeing. Therefore, women, especially those with physiological problems, are recommend to undergo examination and treatment as early as possible by a gynaecologist. Obstetrics and gynecology is a special and unique specialty focused on women's reproductive health, including providing appropriate diagnosis and treatment for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and related gynecological diseases. Thus, within obstetrics and gynecology, there are different sub-specialities focusing on different aspects in a women lifetime. Women of different ages and physiological stages in Hong Kong all need gynaecological services, as well as obstetrics services. women in Hong Kong are usually busy with work and lack self-care with irregular eating habits and sleep deprivation. As lacking self-awareness, they may not be able to detect potential gynaecological problems on their own. If they do not have regular check-ups with a gynaecologist and only seek treatment when the gynaecological disease has developed into a serious condition, it may eventually evolve into a complicated and prolonged issue! Another group of women needing extra attention are those trying to conceive. Women are suggested to have checkup before contemplating pregnancy. Also if they failed to get pregnant after trying for one year, they are advised to undergo examinations by obstetricians and gynaecologists to investigate for causes of infertility and receive appropriate solutions. In addition , after a woman successfully becomes pregnant , she should take good care of her body during pregnancy and after childbirth. Obstetricians and gynaecologists can also provide pregnant women with relevant plans and advice in this aspect.
As described above , there is a certain demand for gynaecological and obstetric services in Hong Kong , reflecting the importance of obstetricians and gynaecologists in the city. When seeking for gynaecologist recommendation, women should pay close attention to the service details offered by the clinic and relevant reviews of the doctor's services. Many women, due to work commitments, prefer to have their checkups at nearby clinics, such as those in Causeway Bay and Central/Sheung Wan. Our Hong Kong S&B Medical gynaecological clinic, in terms of professionalism, equipment, and location , better meets the needs of modern women , providing them with appropriate testing and treatment options!
Convenient transportation, an excellent choice for gynaecology in Causeway Bay
When choosing a suitable gynaecological clinic, besides considering the professionalism of the gynaecologist recommendation, the location of the clinic is also a crucial factor . For women experiencing discomfort or who are pregnant, having to travel long distances for gynaecological examinations or treatments will only deter them and may even worsen their health. Our Hong Kong S&B Medical clinic is located in Causeway Bay, at Room 2507, Hang Lung Centre, 2-20 Paterson Street, Causeway Bay. It is about a 5-10 minutes walk from Causeway Bay MTR Station Exit E, making it very convenient for women working or living nearby. Even those who need to take the MTR find it relatively easy to access the clinic. In addition to the Causeway Bay clinic, we also have a gynaecological clinic in Sheung Wan, located at Room 1203, Cosco Tower, 183 Queen's Road Central, Hong Kong. It's also a 5-10 minutes walk from Sheung Wan MTR Station Exit E2, providing another option for women in need of gynaecological care.

Hong Kong's professional obstetrics and gynaecology team reduces embarrassment when providing gynaecological care
Both male and female gynaecologists all provide professional gynaecological treatment and examination services. However, women may feel embarrassed receiving treatment or examinations from male doctors. Therefore , many women prefer female doctors when seeking gynaecology examination and notice that some gynaecologist recommendations lists also prioritize female doctors. In fact, Hong Kong has no shortage of female gynaecologists. Our clinic has two professional gynaecologists: Dr. Lui Man Wa, Ellen holds an accredited certificate in Reproductive Medicine from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). She is both a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG). While Dr. Iu Ying Fung, Felix, despite as a male gynaecologist, is a professional yet compassionate doctor. He also both a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology). Both gynaecologists are highly experienced and can provide diagnosis and treatment for various gynaecological conditions. Our doctors are compassionate and empathetic, understanding the patient's physical condition and emotional state, and providing appropriate gynaecological treatment plans to ensure the patient receives the most suitable help.
Pay close attention to subtle symptoms and seek timely obstetric and gynaecological treatment
Many women are reluctant to regularly visit a gynaecologist for checkups and treatment. Some feel that they are healthy and do not need regular checkups; others are embarrassed by certain gynaecological conditions and avoid seeking medical help. Furthermore, gynaecological clinics are specialized and gynaecological examinations are relatively expensive, so patients often choose to self-medicate for simple cases. As this is a matter of personal health and all gynaecologists are being professional, we hope that women will undergo gynaecological examination regularly and seek medical advices early. Female organs, such as the ovaries, vulva, and uterus, are sometimes more susceptible to certain diseases, especially cancer. Delaying treatment for these gynaecological diseases can be life-threatening. Therefore, when women notice any abnormal symptoms, they should seek advices from an obstetrician-gynaecologist promptly and should contact a gynaecologist as soon as possible to order to perform a comprehensive examination. Once a gynaecologist detects abnormalities, early treatment is possible.
"What symptoms indicate a problem and a higher chance of having a gynecological disease?"
The following symptoms , if present, warrant prompt medical attention:
Increased vaginal discharge
In addition to increase vaginal discharge, if it also has a strong odor, or is cheesy or curd-like, you should immediately undergo a gynecological examination.
Unusual appearance and texture of the nipples
If you feel a lump in your breast during a self-examination, or if you notice any changes in the shape or size of your breast or nipples, it is best to consult a gynaecologist for examination first .
Menstrual periods vary in length
If your menstrual period lasts less than 2 days or more than 7 days, or if you experience severe menstrual cramps that affect your daily life, you should seek medical attention at an obstetrics and gynaecology clinic as soon as possible.
Abnormal itching in the genital area
If you experience unusual itching, burning, or unexplained bleeding in your genital area, you should see a gynaecologist as soon as possible.
Abnormal nipple discharge
If you notice abnormal discharge from your nipples, or if your nipples are inverted, you should see a gynecologist for examination as soon as possible.
Pain during intercourse
If you experience persistent pain during or after sexual intercourse, it is best to undergo a gynaecological examination.
Painful urination
If you experience intense pain or a burning sensation when urinating, these are all abnormal symptoms.
Feeling unusual during menstruation
If you experience significant discomfort during your period, a large or small increase or decrease in menstrual flow, or even constipation or diarrhea, you should seek medical attention immediately.
Intermenstrual bleeding
Vaginal bleeding in between cycles also requires a visit to a gynaecologist for examination .
Cloudy urine and frequent urination
If your urine is cloudy or even contains blood, or if you experience great difficulty or discomfort when urinating, it is best to consult a gynaecologist first.
Irregular menstrual cycle
If your menstrual cycle is irregular (for example with cycle variation over 2 weeks or occuring only once every few months), you should seek medical attention immediately.
Distended abdomen
If you experience pain or even feel a lump, you should get checked immediately.
In addition to the symptoms mentioned above, other signs such as severe swelling under the armpit, enlarged lymph nodes, pelvic pain, or other abnormal physical conditions should prompt a gynaecological examination by an obstetrician gynaecologist. Ignoring these symptoms may worsen underlying health conditions lead to delayed medical attention. However, if you are unaware of these symptoms , there is no need for excessive worry or emotional distress; but it is still advisable to perform regular gynaecological examination from an obstetrician-gynaecologist to alleviate any concerns.
Obstetric and gynaecological care is needed at different age stages
Even every woman is different, and from childhood to adulthood. There is still a need for gynecological examinations and treatments. As mentioned above, a lot of women in Hong Kong are working professionals, and many of them also have to take care of their families, thus experiencing considerable stress, which can even affect their mental and physical health and potentially lead to other health problems. It's crucial to address health issues early. Ignoring psychological or physical health problems can lead to worsening conditions and even affect fertility. Women should have regular gynecological examinations.
"At what age should women undergo gynaecological examinations and treatments?" In fact, different women's physiological problems may vary, and the age at which they should undergo examinations will differ. Generally, women should have a basic gynaecological examination every year starting from age 25. This allows gynaecologists to assess the health of a woman's reproductive system. However, even if a woman is in her teens, she may need to seek medical attention promptly if she feels any health problems.
Women aged 25 to 65 should ideally have a Pap smear every 3 years, if they were once sexually active. Furthermore, women starting from age 40 should ideally have a mammogram every 2 years. Having regular screening is the best way for cancer prevention. All of the above gynecological treatments and tests are offered at both our Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan obstetrics and gynaecology clinics. Please contact us anytime for inquiries and appointments if needed.

High-risk group prone to gynaecological diseases
Apart from regular gynecological checkups, some women may need to seek extra medical attentions due to varies conditions, including: menstrual symptoms (such as irregular menstrual cycles, which may reflect hormonal imbalances and ovulation abnormalities, indicating an increased risk of gynaecological diseases ), age (for example, menopausal women experience a decline in hormone levels and a gradual decline in reproductive system function, making them more susceptible to certain gynaecological diseases), other factors such as genetic predisposition and unhealthy lifestyle can also increase susceptibility to gynecological diseases. The followings are some of the examples of high risk conditions.
Sexually active
Frequent sexual activity and having too many sexual partners can easily lead to sexually transmitted infections in women, such as HPV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.
People who have been pregnant or given birth
Pregnancy and childbirth both cause considerable damage and burden to a woman's reproductive system, and also increase the chance of certain gynaecological diseases such as genital prolapse, urinary incontinence.
Long-term users of birth control pills
Women who take birth control pills for over a year need to have regular checkups to ensure they can continue using them.
Familial genetic predisposition
If a family member had certain gynaecological diseases, such as ovarian cancer or breast cancer, other family members have a higher risk of developing similar diseases .
People with weakened immune systems
Woman with relatively weak immune systems are more susceptible to infections, which naturally increases their risk of gynaecological diseases, especially HPV.
People with poor lifestyle habits
Smoking, excessive drinking, unhealthy diets, and lack of exercise can lead to an increase risk of gynaecological diseases.
Excessively obese individuals
Obese people are more prone to hormonal imbalances, which in turn increases their chances of developing certain gynaecological diseases and cancer.
People under severe stress
Urban women often experience a lot of pressure due to their busy work schedules. However, if they are under high pressure for a long time, the increased psychological stress can affect their physical health, such as weakened immunity, making them more susceptible to various diseases, including gynaecological diseases.
Women with any risk factors mentioned above should undergo regular gynaecological examinations and checkups. Improving lifestyle habits and maintaining health as gynaecologist recommended are essential to reduce their chances of developing gynaecological diseases.
Pay extra attention to obstetric and gynaecological examinations during pregnancy
Regarding prenatal checkups, pregnant women may not know at what stage of pregnancy they need to undergo these checkups. Hong Kong obstetricians generally recommend having a first checkup around 6 to 7 weeks of pregnancy. During the initial checkup, the obstetrician will review the pregnant woman's medical and obstetric records. They will perform an ultrasound to confirm the location and viability and to calculate the due date. Even if everything is normal after the initial checkup, the pregnant woman will still need to have a checkup every month thereafter. During these checkups, the obstetrician will monitor the fetus's heartbeat, development, and overall health. Once the pregnancy reaches 28 weeks, the frequency of checkups will increase until delivery .
Vaccination recommended by Gynaecologists
Many infectious diseases can affect individual health, and regular vaccination is an effective preventative measure, especially for pregnant women. During pregnancy, the immune system is relatively weak. Infection can have serious consequences for both the mother and fetus, potentially impacting the baby's future development. Gynaecologists recommend that women, not only pregnant women, receive certain vaccinations. Our Obstetrics and Gynecology clinics in Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan both offer the following vaccination services, including:
Influenza vaccine
Getting a flu shot helps prevent seasonal influenza and reduce complications. Clinical studies have shown that flu vaccination is relatively safe for pregnant women and their fetuses. The World Health Organization has also stated that it is safe for pregnant women to receive seasonal flu vaccines, and there is currently no direct evidence that flu vaccination in pregnant women (even in the first trimester ) has adverse effects on the fetus. Relatively speaking, injectable vaccines are more suitable for pregnant women than nasal sprays ; obstetricians and gynecologists generally prefer injectable vaccines.
Pertussis vaccine
Pregnant women should receive the pertussis vaccine during their second or third trimester (ideally before 35 weeks of gestation). It's important to note that a pregnant woman shall receive the vaccine at least 15 days before the end of her pregnancy, as to allow sufficient time for antibodies to develop in her body, ensuring the fetus receives adequate protection from the mother before birth. Without the pertussis vaccine, infants are more susceptible in contracting pertussis and are more likely to experience serious complications, even death.
Shingles vaccine
This is commonly known as the "snake shot," specifically designed to prevent shingles (herpes zoster) and related complications. This disease is common in people over 50, and those with weakened immune systems are more susceptible. Symptoms include a red rash and severe pain. The snake shot effectively reduces the risk of developing this disease. Individuals over 50, those who have had chickenpox, and those with other chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney failure, or rheumatoid arthritis are considered high-risk for shingles, and vaccination provides more effective protection for their health .
In addition to the vaccines mentioned above, there are also vaccines such as the rubella vaccine and the HPV vaccine, which are also required for women. Our obstetrics and gynaecology services also provide these vaccines. Of course, everyone's need and health condition are different. Therefore, it is recommended to consult Hong Kong obstetricians and gynecologists first to understand whether they are suitable for receiving the relevant vaccines and understand the risks of the vaccines.

Gynaecology – Frequently Asked Questions
1. Under what circumstances do women actually need to undergo gynaecological examinations and treatments?
Women's bodies differ significantly from men's, possessing several organs not found in men, such as the ovaries, vulva, and uterus. Diseases affecting these organs are generally termed gynecological diseases. Even without discomfort or symptoms, women should undergo regular checkups by gynaecologists as the best disease prevention measures. Furthermore, some gynaecological diseases present with warning signs or symptoms. If a woman notices any abnormalities, she should consult a gynaecologist as soon as possible for a comprehensive examination, diagnosis , and treatment. If a woman experiences any of the following warning signs or symptoms, those may be features of gynaecological diseases and it is best to get checked promptly. Those symptoms and signs include:
-
Increased vaginal discharge with an odor, appearing like cheese or cottage cheese.
-
Frequent itching or even burning sensations in the genital area, or abnormal bleeding, etc.
-
Burning or irritating sensation when urinating.
-
Cloudy or bloody urine
-
Frequent urination, or even have difficulty in urination
-
Any breast lumps, especially if there are changes in its shape or size.
-
Frequent nipple discharge without reason, or ever retracted nipple
-
Menstrual symptoms: severe pain during menstruation, increase or decrease menstrual flow
-
Irregular menstrual cycles, sometimes occurring more than a week early or late, and in severe cases, menstruation may not come for several months at a time.
-
If menstrual periods last less than 2 days or more than 7 days, or if menstrual cramps are so severe that they affect daily life.
-
Severe swelling under the armpit, or enlarged lymph nodes.
-
Pain during or after sexual intercourse
-
Pelvic pain
-
Abdominal bloating, abdominal mass
In addition to the issues mentioned above, if a woman experiences any other abnormal symptoms, she should see a doctor for examination as soon as possible. Otherwise, delaying medical treatment may worsen her condition and increase her anxiety, thus affecting her physical and mental health.
2. What procedures does an obstetrician-gynaecologist perform when examining a woman's internal and external reproductive organs?
Obstetricians and gynaecologists typically perform examinations as followed. First, the doctor will start examining the vulva, which include labia majora and minora, as well as the mucous membranes near the vaginal opening. Doctor will examine for cysts, abscesses, warts, wounds, lumps, or other lesions. Following that, internal vaginal examination will be performed with the use of speculum. During this process, the doctor will insert a lubricated speculum into the vagina and cervix, observing for bleeding, discharge, inflammation, or other abnormalities. If the doctor deems further examination necessary, vaginal secretions will be collected and sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis. Cervical smear will be performed in the same occasion.
Doctor will then perform digital vaginal examination and pelvic examination. Before the examination, the doctor will put on gloves, and apply lubricant. Then, one or two fingers will be inserted into the vagina, while the other hand will be placed on the lower abdomen to determine the shape and size of organs such as the uterus and ovaries, and to check for pain or cysts.
3. Besides gynaecological treatments and tests, does your gynaecology clinic offer any vaccination services?
Yes, our vaccination services include those for common gynaecological conditions as well as those for infectious diseases, such as the rubella vaccine. Women planning pregnancy need to be tested beforehand to determine their adequacy for the rubella antibody. Women without adequate antibody should be vaccinated before pregnancy and should avoid pregnancy for one month after vaccination. Another vaccination recommended by gynaecologist is HPV vaccination. HPV vaccine effectively prevents cervical cancer and reduces the risk of reproductive organ cancers and diseases caused by HPV infection. Other vaccines, such as the shingles vaccine and the flu vaccine, are both recommended by gynaecologist. Our clinic also offers these vaccination services; please inquire for more information.
4. Isn't the HPV vaccine only for young girls? Can middle-aged women also come to your gynaecology clinic to receive the HPV vaccine?
The HPV vaccine is highly effective for those who have never been infected with the HPV virus, making early vaccination highly recommended. Many women believe they are too old (i.e. older than 25 years old) to receive the HPV vaccine and therefore feel it's unnecessary. However, even sexually active women who have never been infected with HPV can still achieve over 90% protection with the vaccine. Even if a woman has been infected with HPV before, while vaccination cannot eliminate the existing virus, it can still prevent infection with other HPV types. Even for women with high-grade HPV lesions, the HPV vaccine can reduce the chance of recurrence. Therefore, women of any age can consider HPV vaccination.
In addition to getting the HPV vaccine at gynaecological clinics, women should also have regular check-ups to greatly reduce their chances of developing cervical cancer. This is especially true for women aged 25 to 64 who have had sexual experience. They should have a cervical cell examination at a gynaecologist every 1 to 3 years. If abnormal cervical cell are found, they can be treated as early as possible to prevent the condition from worsening.
5. Is it true that cervical cells don't mutate until several years after a woman's first sexual intercourse? Wouldn't it be sufficient to have a gynaecologist examine then and treat the condition in time?
Cervical cell lesions don't necessarily appear years after sexual activity. There are case reports that cervical cancer occurred in young woman. Therefore, once a woman is sexually active, she must undergo regular cervical smear testing from 25 years old, or earlier if having any high risk factors. If the first smear is normal, a second smear should be performed 12 months later. If two consecutive tests are normal, she should then have a check-up with a gynaecologist at least every three years thereafter. Many pre-cancer or even early-stage cancers may not present with obvious symptoms, so regular check-ups can detect problems early and provide better protection for one's health.
6. I previously saw a gynaecologist for a yeast infection, but the inflammation recurred shortly after treatment. I saw the doctor several times, but it wasn't completely cured. I still have inflammation. How can I resolve this problem?
Candida albicans is a normal microorganism present in the vagina. If a woman is healthy, Candida albicans will be suppressed. However, if her health is not ideal (such as having a chronic illness, pregnancy, taking antibiotics or high-dose birth control pills), or if there are problems with the vaginal environment, Candida albicans can proliferate excessively, leading to vaginitis. In fact, candidal vaginitis is relatively easy to recur. Therefore, in addition to receiving treatment from a gynaecologist, it is also important to improve general health and adjust lifestyle habits, such as wearing cotton underwear and washing frequently. When washing, disinfect with hot water first, then hand wash the underwear thoroughly and dry it in strong sunlight. If it is a cloudy day, you can iron it first . Keeping underwear clean will help prevent the continued proliferation of Candida albicans. If the situation persists, you should consult a gynecologist for a detailed examination and treatment.
While Candida albicans does not directly affect female fertility, frequent infections without proper treatment can lead to severe discomfort and complications. Therefore, women planning to have children should seek treatment at a gynaecological clinic if they have Candida albicans problems to avoid affecting their ability to conceive.
7. What are uterine fibroids? What treatments would a gynaecologist recommend if a woman has uterine fibroids?
Uterine fibroids, also known as leiomyomas, are a common gynaecological condition. Most women with uterine fibroids initially experience no obvious symptoms. Common symptoms are excessive menstrual bleeding, bloating sensation, and abdominal mass. A smaller percentage of patients may experience menstrual cramps. However, the vast majority of uterine fibroids are benign and do not increase the risk of cancer. But if the fibroids become too large, they may cause frequent abdominal pain, and the size and location of the fibroids can potentially affect fertility. Therefore, women should have regular checkups at a gynaecological clinic. If uterine fibroids cause serious problems, they should be removed as soon as possible. Gynaecologists will provide medication for excessive menstrual bleeding or surgical treatment depending on the patient's condition. Surgical treatment often involves hysteroscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic or open myomectomy to completely remove large fibroids. Non-surgical treatments include uterine artery embolization and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU).
8. How many days into pregnancy should a prenatal gynaecological examination be performed? And what does this examination entail?
Generally, women should have a prenatal checkup with an obstetrician around 6 to 7 weeks of pregnancy. During the initial checkup, the doctor will ask about the pregnant woman's medical and obstetric history and perform an ultrasound to estimate her due date. If everything is normal, the pregnant woman will then have checkups every month. During these checkups, the obstetrician will monitor the fetal heartbeat, development, and overall health. From around 28 weeks of pregnancy, the frequency of checkups will increase until delivery.
Prenatal checkups in obstetrics and gynaecology generally include prenatal risk assessment, routine examinations, and providing pregnant women with prenatal and postnatal nutritional advice, as well as weight management and vaccinations.
9. At what age should women begin to need gynaecological checkups?
Every woman's constitution is different, but gynaecological examinations are necessary upon reaching adulthood. Today's women face considerable pressure from work and family life, making them more prone to health problems such as hormonal disturbance thyroid disease. If left untreated, these conditions can even affect fertility. Women with a family history of thyroid disease especially need to undergo regular checkups.
The age at which women should begin screening varies depending on their specific physiological issues. For example, women should begin a routine check-up annually from age 25 to assess the health of their reproductive system. Regular Pap smears at least once every three years are necessary for sexually active women aged 25 to 65. As for breast surveillance, women around age 40 should have mammogram every one to two years. Our Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan gynaecology clinic offers a wide range of screening and treatment services. Please contact us for more information.
10. What preparations and precautions should a woman take before undergoing a gynaecological examination?
To ensure accurate results during a gynaecological examination, considerable preparation is necessary. Firstly, if a Pap smear or internal examination is scheduled, the test should not be performed during menstruation, but rather 7 to 10 days after menstruation ends. Secondly, women should avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal medications, and excessive douching for 48 hours prior to the examination, as these can affect the results of the Pap smear and sexually transmitted illnesses (STI) screening. Thirdly, if hormonal profile or thyroid function test is being conducted, strenuous exercise should be avoided beforehand, but fasting is not required. It is best to inform your gynaecologist of any family medical history, such as history of breast cancer or thyroid disease in elders, for their reference. In addition, you should inform your doctor if you have any symptoms such as chronic fatigue or abnormal bleeding. If you are taking certain medications (especially hormone-related medications) for a long time, you should also let your doctor know so that they have sufficient information to make a diagnosis and ensure that the test results are accurate and comprehensive. In addition, if you have had physical examinations in the past, you can bring the relevant test reports to your doctor for reference, which will help the doctor assess your health status.
Additionally, on the day of the formal examination, it is advisable to choose loose-fitting clothing, which will be more convenient during the examination.
11. After undergoing a gynaecological examination, what precautions should be taken?
Post-gynaecological examination care and physical condition vary depending on the type of examination. The most important thing is proper management to allow the body to recover normally, and of course, timely follow-up of the examination results is also necessary. For example, women who undergo Pap smears or internal exams may experience slight bleeding or discomfort afterward, but these symptoms usually disappear within 1 to 2 days. However, if any other abnormal symptoms are found, they should consult a gynaecologist as soon as possible. If a woman undergoes examinations such as breast or pelvic ultrasound, she can resume normal activities without special follow-up care. For thyroid and blood tests, further arrangements will be made after waiting for the relevant reports. If a thyroid abnormality is diagnosed, another ultrasound examination may be necessary. For tests related to sexually transmitted diseases or hormones, after undergoing such blood tests, strenuous exercise should be avoided, and attention should be paid to the cleanliness of the puncture site to prevent infection.
In addition to the points mentioned above, women should get plenty of rest after any gynaecological examination, ensure vulvar hygiene, and pay attention to any abnormal bleeding or discharge. If you experience any discomfort or have any concerns, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
12. Are your obstetricians-gynaecologist male or female? As a female patient, I might feel a little awkward receiving treatment from a male doctor.
In Hong Kong, both male and female obstetricians and gynaecologists are highly professional and employ the most appropriate treatments to address various gynaecological issues. We understand that some female patients may feel awkward about being treated by a male doctor. Our clinical team consists of two female obstetricians and gynaecologists. Dr. While Dr. Mok Yin Kwan, Sophia holds an accredited certificate in Maternal-Fetal Medicine from the RCOG. She is also both a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology). Both doctors have extensive experience and can treat a wide range of gynaecological conditions.
